Looking for a flatshare today works like a job application: a PDF dossier, forty emails to one address, then silence. Culmeno turns that around — a profile instead of a cover letter, and the flat decides together.
Free. No dossiers, no agency fee.

dossiers, credit reports and payslips are needed for an enquiry. A few sentences are enough.
Stucco ceilings in Berlin, azulejos in Lisbon, tatami in Kyoto. Culmeno doesn't pre-sort by square metres — you see what becomes free within your radius, wherever that is.

A room is quickly described: square metres, rent, available from. What really counts is on no form — who sits at the kitchen table, how loud it is on Sundays, whether anyone cooks. That's why it isn't a dossier that decides here, but the people who live there.
Selin has seen your room and written a few sentences. No dossier, no credit report — a person.
Everyone in the flat gets the same enquiry. And nobody sees what the others chose.
Only when everyone has voted do the cards turn over. The talking comes after — not before.
Acceptance or rejection, in your own words, with templates to get started. No button that dismisses someone with a single click.

“I'm looking for a room where people still sit at the kitchen table in the evening. I love cooking, and far too much for one person.”

“We've voted and would really like to meet you. Would you come by for a coffee on Thursday?”
This isn't a video. Vote and see what the app does next — and why it does it.

Cast a vote — this is how it looks in the app.
Culmeno comes from culmen, the ridge — the topmost beam on which the two sides of the roof rest. Two rafters that hold nothing alone and together span a room: that is the whole idea, and it is the reason why nobody here decides alone.
The name is pronounced the same in German, Italian and English. Handy, if it should ever reach beyond Chiasso.
Pictures, a few sentences, music, languages, habits. Anyone who gets up early says so — instead of hiding it in a cover letter.
Every place in the world, plus a slider for the radius — from “right here” to “anywhere, as long as there's a room”.
After an acceptance the chat opens with the whole flat — not with an anonymous address.
One tap cancels all open enquiries at once — and the flats know straight away, instead of waiting for you.
Signing up takes a minute and needs no password: enter your email, type in the code from your inbox, done. After that you see the rooms within your radius — and your flat can answer enquiries together.
Nothing — neither for seekers nor for flats. There may be optional extras later; finding and filling a room stays free. There are no agency fees.
For voting, yes — that's the point. One person sets up the flat and invites the others with a code. Whoever is in the flat when a vote opens is entitled to vote; whoever joins later votes from the next enquiry onwards.
Yes. You can be in a flat and be looking at the same time; in the app you switch between the two sides. Your flat doesn't see that you're looking.
No. They only learn the outcome — and only once the flat has written and sent the answer. Who voted how and what was discussed internally stays in the flat. That isn't a setting; it sits in the server in separate tables.
They are held on European servers, are not sold and are not used for advertising profiles. The account can be deleted in the app; profile and pictures disappear with it. Details are in the privacy policy.
No. Culmeno runs in the browser — on your phone just as on your computer. You can add the page to your phone's home screen, and then it behaves like an app. Versions for the Play Store and the App Store are in the works.
Saved. Mara and Jonas have already voted too — everything becomes visible only once Lea has voted as well.
Maybe counts as open. The round carries on, and in the internal chat you can work out what you're still missing.
A no stays anonymous. In flats that decide unanimously it ends the round — without anyone finding out who it came from.
